Tourists

Tourists, from our limited observations, are mostly from other South American countries and Chile itself, since January  and February are vacation months here. We met a German woman yesterday on our tour and today a young couple from Switzerland. Also a young Chinese woman.

Age: We've been by far the oldest people on the 2 tours we've done so far, although we do see some older couples walking in town. I guess that is to be expected since Chile tourism is known for its extreme adventure and sports.
We use our walking sticks, or trekking poles. I was surprised that I saw NO ONE else with poles. Also, Marc is the only person I've seen with a big floppy hat. I have no trouble picking him out. Ha. It's bill caps (which fly off in the wind) or light weight balaclavas. We even have those for warmth and sun protection.
Our guides offer to take pictures of us and then one picture needs to be a "crazy one". Most of these young people seem more interested in their lovey-dovey or crazy poses at every point rather than the scenery itself. It's kinda cute. This was as crazy as we could muster.
The pace of things is Latino. No one is in a hurry. The tour van picks us up at our hotels and BnBs, but if they have to wait for you, no problem. Or they'll circle back for you later. We, on the other hand, are outside our gate promptly at the designated time only to wait 30-45 minutes. :). It's ok, we are on vacation!
