Chiloe Island #2
We didn't really have specific plans for the two days we're here, so we were happy to go with Henry's suggestions. We mentioned a few things on our list of things to see, and he proposed an itinerary for the day and sent us on our way. I really thought we'd be hiring tour companies for our day trips, but local buses are so easy and plentiful that we've used them a lot.
Today we visted three different towns, walked around the town centers, visited the wooden churches, browsed the artesan markets and ate "asado cordero" (roast lamb) at a food market.
Castro is the capital of Chiloe, where we are staying.
Most houses have wood shingle siding.
Everywhere was close to water.
Three mamas fixed our lunch in their small kitchen stall at the food market while we sat at the counter and watched. I'm quite sure they would never qualify for a food license in Iowa. ð
Craft markets are full of wool sweaters, ponchos, blankets and rugs.
ððĪŠð We found a way to get our kicks.
